Reference design migration and obsolescence resolution

Moving an NVIDIA reference design from OrCAD into Altium — and keeping a production board alive when a MOSFET went end-of-life.

The problem

The client's products build on an NVIDIA reference design that only existed in OrCAD/Cadence, while their engineering runs in Altium Designer. In parallel, a P-channel MOSFET on a shipping board was discontinued by its manufacturer.

What we built

  • Full migration of the reference design into Altium: schematics, library parts and design rules, reviewed sheet by sheet against the original
  • Obsolescence analysis for the discontinued MOSFET: electrical and package comparison of candidate successors
  • Selection of a drop-in replacement that needed no layout or resistor changes
  • Supplier communication in German and a documented change note for production

Result

The design now lives in the client's own toolchain and can be evolved by their team. The production board kept shipping without a re-spin.

For businesses that need it to work in the field, not in a demo.

Plantations, factories, workshops and infrastructure operators across Indonesia — and product companies in Europe. Tell us the problem; we will tell you honestly whether we are the right team.
